Cell lines derived from late embryonic stages of Drosophila melanogaster.

“At least one line is derived from imaginal disc cells.” As reported for other insects, cell spheres appeared in the cultures after 2–3 weeks. At each passage, spheres are trypsinised or simple teased apart.
