To avoid homologous recombinations, synthetic parts of a genome that have the same function (promoter, ...) need to have a different sequence. Constructing a set of functional synthetic sequences that never share k-mers of a given length (10 to 20) is difficult because the graph of related sequences is very dense. Therefore, the authors have optimised an algorithm for very dense graph.
