An aphid RNA transcript migrates systemically within plants and is a virulence factor.

The Ya gene family is specific to aphids. The genes have 3 exons, and a small ORF. However, mutatio of the ORF in one of them did not reduce its function in a virulence assay, therefore they might be non-coding RNAs.
